People and addresses
The same person often shows up under more than one address: a work laptop as
jane@acme.com, a personal browser as jane@gmail.com, an old domain after a
rebrand. Waxell keeps a list of people, each with every address they answer
to.
Open Identity → People to:
- search for someone by any of their addresses
- see every address a person answers to, and where it came from
- add or remove an address
- merge two records that are really one person
- View activity: one timeline of their devices, captures, agent runs, gateway calls and agent-identity records
Where it's used
- User counts: endpoint and dashboard "users" figures count people, not addresses.
- Filtering to a person: filtering a page to one user includes rows under all their addresses.
- Team-scoped guards: a device owned under a second address still gets the team's guard.
Waxell creates a person the first time it sees an address. Connecting a second address to that person is up to you: add it to the person, or merge the two records. (Directory sync uses your directory's aliases to link directory users to existing Waxell members.)
